Action Type: Cooperation Partnerships in Adult Education (KA220-ADU)
Summary
Famversity is a European cooperation project that aims to strengthen parents’ role in promoting diversity, inclusion and respectful dialogue within the family environment. Families are often the first and most influential learning space for children, yet many parents feel uncertain, under-resourced or unsupported when it comes to addressing diversity-related topics with their children.
The project responds to this need by supporting parents as adult learners, equipping them with knowledge, confidence and practical tools to engage in age-appropriate and meaningful discussions about diversity at home. Famversity approaches diversity in a broad and inclusive way, addressing multiple dimensions such as gender, sexuality, age, ethnicity, race and disability, while recognising that family realities and cultural contexts differ across Europe.
By combining research, co-creation and innovative learning approaches, Famversity seeks to create sustainable and transferable solutions that empower families, support educators and contribute to more inclusive communities.
Objectives
The main objectives of Famversity are to:
- Strengthen parents’ awareness, confidence and skills in addressing diversity within the family.
- Support family-based learning as a key pathway to lifelong learning and social inclusion.
- Equip adult educators with practical tools to engage and guide parents.
- Foster open, respectful and constructive dialogue between parents and children on diversity-related topics.
- Promote inclusive values from an early age, contributing to social cohesion and mutual understanding.
Activities & Methodology
Famversity is structured around a participatory and evidence-based methodology that actively involves parents, educators and experts throughout the project lifecycle.
Key activities include:
- Research and needs analysis, collecting data from parents and experts to identify challenges, gaps and good practices in family-based diversity learning.
- Co-design labs with parents, organised across partner countries, where parents share experiences and collaboratively generate ideas for practical tools.
- Development of learning and activation resources, ensuring that outputs are age-sensitive, culturally adaptable and grounded in real family needs.
- Pilot testing and feedback, allowing tools to be refined and improved based on user experience.
- Dissemination and capacity-building activities, supporting the uptake of the project’s results by educators, organisations and families.
This approach ensures that Famversity’s outcomes are relevant, usable and sustainable beyond the project’s duration.
